Decided to replace my large print copies of "Rush" & "Kaufman" w/Kindle copies as e-books don't smudge your hands. The beginning of "Rush" was preceded by comments from the author. She recommended reading "A Million Tiny Pieces" to learn more about Phoenix Pierce, owner of an NHL franchise. Because I liked books 1 & 2 in the Austin Arrows (hockey series), thought AMTP would be preferred reading for this great-granny. Purchased the e-book w/o reading the description or any reviews—dumb decision—failed to be judicious in learning the subject-matter about AMTP. Just not into bisexual relationships and/or three-way marriages. The story itself was good (the reason for three stars). The main characters were interesting & well-fleshed out. The male & female protagonists were greedy, obnoxious, even vulture-like. Did find the overlapping relationships between Phoenix, Mia, & Tarik confusing from the outset. Initially, thought Phoenix & Mia were heterosexual, then wondered if Phoenix preferred men & was using Mia as a "cover" due to Tarik's ongoing suggestive comments. Wound up reading the non-sexual parts (which was, maybe,1/4 of the story). Glad bypassing unwanted text required merely touching the lower-right corner of the screen.

I read my first Nicole Edwards book barely a year ago. It was one of a series so as I'd liked it so much I read the remaining books and another series. I have pre-ordered books to make sure I don't miss them.

A Million Tiny Pieces (AMTP) is a standalone. As well as being thrilling and full of suspense it covers areas of sex and loving that, before Nicole, I thought were only seen in porn films and 'dirty' magazines.

How has Nicole Edwards changed my long held view? With time, awakened understanding and love.

Mia, Phoenix and Tariq all have burdens to bear but their gradual coming together, and the sexual undertones constantly simmering just below the surface, finally shows them they are stronger and happier as a unit.

There is no sex in this book till past the half way mark. There is a sensuality and an expectation that love will have to tangle through them first, even if they are not aware of it.

Nicole Edwards has taken her time with a previously (to me) taboo subject, allowing me to understand what is happening and why, just as her characters become aware, then she pours on the love - making a true love story that can be acknowledged...not seedy, not dirty just love.

I don't expect to learn things from novels, although it is nice when I do, I certainly don't expect an author to completely up end my long held beliefs. Nicole Edwards has taught me and changed me. I am grateful.
I love Nicole Edwards’ work, but A Million Tiny Pieces was a disappointment for me. Edwards usually does such a great job making these connections between her characters, but I didn’t get that at all here. It just seemed like these characters moved way too fast in their relationship and nothing about the relationship seemed authentic at it. It was basically all physical in my opinion and the lack of emotional connection really made it difficult to get into. I found myself skimming the book a lot and really wanted to stop reading it.
Hoo boy, that was steamy. I'm not surprised since I know Nicole Edwards knows how to write a ménage scene very well. I'm not always on board with the threesome relationships though. (Or it may be that I just dislike Club Destiny's Sam since out of all the "unconventional" relationships Ms. Edwards has written, Sam's is the only one I don't get.) This triad is written right, though. I like that, although there are feeling between all parties, the feeling between each couple are described differently.

There is a LOT of sex in this book. Not that I'm necessarily complaining, but there were a few times I wondered if the relationship(s) were spurred on more by lust than love. But in the end the love story won out and I believed their feelings for each other.

There was a bit of choppiness when it came to the end. The big climax was a bit anti-climactic, really. There were a few people in the end that I was confused about how they came about cooperating, it was all rather vague. Not so much that it ruined the book for me, but still enough to mention here.

One thing I don't get that has more to do with the readers and those that leave reviews. These books have explanations and usually warnings about content. Why would someone pick up this story and then leave a bad review because they don't like sex in books? It's so silly and really unfair to the author when it comes to the ratings. If you don't like M/M/F books or books with a lot of steamy sex, do not read this book!
I loved this story, so much! I have read all of Nicole Edwards books and this is my new favorite. I was excited when I found out that she was working on a stand alone book. I knew that she would give us full characters to appreciate and she didn't disappoint one bit.
Phoenix is the perfect character to write about, he is sensitive and kind, but he is not the guy you get to have more than one night with. He is the typical, love em and leave em guy. Mia is sweet and fun and left with an untrusting heart after what her husband did to her. Tarik is the bad boy, quiet type and at the same time, the teddy bear. I love that these characters all had back stories that made me know them and love them equally. This story was well rounded and fun and I found myself going back and forth over who I loved more. That is what good writing is about, when you can't decide who you love the most. Phoenix finding his way, Mia holding everyone together and Tarik learning what it's all about is the perfect cast to a perfect story. I am happy that in the end it all worked out, but sad that it is over. Such a good story and totally worth reading.
